Husbandry

We offer FREE husbandry training to anyone buying alpacas from us.  This isn’t classroom training.  It is hands-on, working with our herd.  We believe that no amount of classroom training is a substitute for the real thing.  We can include information on fleece production, the sustainability of an alpaca business, planning and a whole host more.

Peg Loom Weaving

Spend a relaxing day meeting the herd and learning all about these amazing animals. If weather permits enjoy an al fresco lunch near our Yurt which overlooks the alpaca fields, and spend the rest of the day learning the rustic craft of peg loom weaving. At the end of the day you take away your own 2′ peg-loom, set of carders and enough alpaca fleece to finish the rug you started in class. The finished rug size will be approximately 26″ x 36″.

Wellies and water-proof coats may be necessary (sorry – we can’t help the weather!) and we need to know dietary requirements in advance.

Times: 10am-4pm approximately.

Felting

Our basic felting course includes a session of flat wet felting followed by making an alpaca felted soap.  We include carding both on hand-carders and machine, we meet the alpacas, and supply alpaca fleece for the tuition which is a half day.

Price: £25/half day (inc VAT)

Price includes: Tea/Coffee.  Alpaca fleece.

Times: 9.30-12 or 1.30-4pm

We ask for one third deposit on booking.

Half day craft courses are often taken in conjunction with Alpaca Experiences.  Lunch can then be provided.  Please contact us for full details.
